Biking & Climbing

Biking and climbing often go together! Especially for us here at lake.bike, due to one of Carinthias best climbing areas right at our doorsteps, the climbing area Kanzianiberg near Lake Faak or the family friendly Peterlewand near Lake Ossiach.

It is the biggest single climbing crag in our district with over 450 routes, the Kanzianiberg via ferrata and some nice boulders at the base of the crag.
Around Villach there is also the climbing area “Kaltbad” .
A crag with mostly hard stuff starting at 7a. In contrast the Alpenarena Villach is a crag for beginners and courses. 17 lines from 3a to 6b are waiting here for you.

And to complete the set of nice areas, the conglomerat area of Rosenbach .

with 30+ lines from 5a to 8a is just 20 minutes away.

But our region has much more to offer to climbers. Our friends from maltatal.rocks have put together a great platform for climbing in Carinthia.
From the great granite area Maltatal, over the climbing possibilities at the Millstätter Lake, the region National Park Hohe Tauern all the way to climbing around Villach / Faaker See and the capitol Klagenfurt.
Here is a brief overview: Climbing Maltatal: Already recognized as one of the most well known bouldering areas of the Alps, the Maltatal has more to offer to climbers. More than 25 single crags with 400+ routes line up along the valley,

Kreuzwand
Kolosseum
Schleierwasserfall
Lackenkopfwand

being the biggest areas. In summer climbers appreciate the amazing slabs of the plaisir area Langkar up at an altitude of about 2.200m. The area is also home of the most alpine climbs around the Hochalmspitze, 3.360m.

The Fallbach via ferrata and the Kölnbreinsperre via ferrata complete the abundant climbing possibilities. The new Maltatal climbing guidebook is to come out soon, you can ordered on the maltatal.rocks website.
